A woman from Northampton has admitted a charge of perverting the course of justice after she pretended that she was the driver of car that her husband crashed in a supermarket car park.

Karen Revell, aged 33, of Gifford Court, St James, appeared at Northampton Crown Court after she falsely stated she was the driver of a Volkswagen Polo involved in a collision in the car park of Tesco in Mereway.

The court heard that, on the day of the crash on December 23 last year, her husband Matthew Revell did not have any insurance covering him to drive the vehicle.

Karen Revell pleaded guilty to charges of perverting the course of justice and permitting use of motor vehicle without any insurance.

She will be sentenced next month.
