A Vietnamese restaurant in Northampton is opening its doors on Friday lunchtime to showcase a Far Eastern delicacy and celebrate National Sandwich Week.
Dang’s in Wellingborough Road, will be offering traditional Vietnamese pork baguettes for just £1 on a first come, first served basis from noon on Friday.
The restaurant is normally only open in the evening but owner Hao Dang said she wanted to help mark National Sandwich Week by showing off a taste of her homeland.
Miss Dang said: “Vietnamese pork baguettes are really popular in many countries across the world but they haven’t really had much attention yet in the UK. We are hoping to change that and open peoples’ eyes to just how good a sandwich really can be.
“At the moment we are just doing it for one day only but if it proves popular we could look to open at lunchtimes throughout the summer.”
The sandwich, known as ‘banh mi’, will contain steamed and roasted pork belly with salad and chilli sauce.
National Sandwich Week runs from May 12 to 16.
