Five lucky lottery players on a quiet Northampton street are celebrating this week after their NN3 postcode was chosen to receive £150,000 in prize money.

The Oleander Crescent residents in Blackthorn were picked as part of the National Postcode Lottery’s Saturday draw, which selects an area at random to win large cash prizes each week.

Classroom assistant Suzanne Corless, 60, was the biggest winner, scooping £50,000 because she played with two tickets.

She said: “I used to play before but decided to re-sign up recently – I’m so glad I did.”

“As well as paying off some bills, Suzanne has some exciting plans for spending her prize money.

“I have a couple of loans to pay off which will make things easier for me each month,” she added. “I would love to book a trip away to somewhere like Cornwall with my husband Steve.”

Sandra and Martin Smith are presented with their 25,000 prize.

“I also have two daughters and two granddaughters to spoil so I have plenty to spend it on.”

Patricia Warren, 68, couldn’t believe it when she was presented with her £25,000 cheque by People’s Postcode Lottery “ambassador,” Judie McCourt.

“Surreal is the word for this,” she said.

Retired carer Patricia said she is still in shock about her win.

She said: “For my husband Roger and I, this is life-changing. We can finally visit our daughter, Alison, in Canada. She emigrated with her family four years ago and we’ve just never been able to afford to go over. Roger phoned her as soon as we had won at 5am her time and woke her up. We’re all very excited.”

Patricia’s friend and neighbour Pauline O’Connor, 63, was equally shocked when she received her £25,000 cheque. “It’s like a dream,” she said. “I still can’t get over it.”

Sandra Smith, 54, was joined by her husband Martin when she was presented with her £25,000 cheque.

“This is fantastic,” she said. “I’ve been out of work for a year now so this will really help. I don’t have to worry so much about money and I can get the garden and the driveway done.”

There was one other winner in the winning postcode who also won £25,000. Rachel James was not available when the team called but her mother, Jenny, accepted the cheque on her behalf.

People’s Postcode Lottery players have raised over £82.9 Million for charities across Britain and internationally, including Northamptonshire based children’s charity The Voice That Makes a Difference.

The PostCode Lottery costs £10 a month to play and anyone interested can sign up via www.postcodelottery.co.uk.
