VIDEO: Good send-off from Oundle for day three of the Women’s Tour

Crowds lined the route as day three of the Aviva Women’s Tour got under way in Oundle.

The Women’s Tour is back in the county for the second time, with Oundle playing host to the start before the route makes its way through Corby and then finishes in Kettering town centre.

People of all ages were enjoying the build-up in Oundle ahead of the race, watching as each of the teams were introduced to the crowds.

Among those taking part today was Hannah Barnes from Burton Latimer, who’s mum works just around the corner from the starting line in Oundle.

After counting down to the start, people cheered and waved their flags as the cyclists set off on the third and longest stage of the race at 10am today.

The peloton of cyclists left the Market Place in Oundle much to the delight of the crowds before returning about 30 minutes later so spectators could get another chance to see the world-class athletes in action.

Not only did people line the streets, but spectators could be seen leaning out of their windows to catch a glimpse of the race as the cyclists flew past.

But it wasn’t just the cyclists providing excitement on the streets of Oundle, the extensive entourage which comes with the tour including team support cars, medics and the AA joined in with many drivers sounding their horns and waving as they went past.

As the roads cleared and the town started to return to normal at about 10.45am, the crowds started to disperse and many inspired by the tour could be seen getting in the saddle and heading off to catch the next stage of the race in Corby and later on in Kettering.

Among the crowds watching the race in Oundle was MP for Corby and East Northamptonshire Tom Pursglove.
