The clearing process is open to those who have received their BTEC results, plus potential mature students, to secure their place on a full-time undergraduate course in September.

Antony Bounds, head of admissions, said: “Clearing is traditionally associated with mid-August’s A-level results day, when thousands who are without an offer of a degree course have the chance to find a university place for the new academic year.

“But, by launching clearing earlier, the University is helping those who already have their results – and potential mature students – to beat the rush and secure their place.”

Megan Hogg, from Corby, successfully applied for a place on the University’s psychology degree course through clearing in 2015.

She said: “The clearing process itself was pretty easy – I was able to find out about different universities and courses online.

“When I found the psychology course at the University of Northampton, all I had to do was call one telephone number, they asked for my grades and said I could enrol – it was that easy.
