Two selfless women are set to deliver 1000 advent calendars and selection boxes to vulnerable children around Northamptonshire this Christmas.

Claire Irving alongside friend Kelly McAlinden has made it their mission to transport a thousand chocolate treats to children in both care and hospital around the county over the next couple of months.

The big-hearted duo, who pride themselves on delivering advent calendars and selection boxes have now started to collect adult socks to give to the elderly and the homeless in Northampton.

Speaking to the Chronicle & Echo, Claire Irving said: “My friend Kelly and I sat there one day and thought we wanted to do something nice for children in care and hospital, so we phoned around asking charities and organisations about what they need and then we went out and bought it for them.

“We are two mums who want to give at least one gift to a child this year at Christmas.

“Facebook has been brilliant, somebody as far as Austraila is sending socks over.”

Businesses based in Northamptonshire such as Hometech, Tesco and Imperial cars have all chipped in to offer the women, who call themselves the Chocolate Elf, money and chocolate gifts.

The pair will donate to Northampton General Hospital, Kettering General Hospital, St Andrews hospital, Northampton young carers , the Hope Center, Thornby House and the food banks.

The Chocolate Elf can be found on Facebook for those wanting to make donations.
