A young kickboxer from Northampton has won a title at the Wako Junior World Championships.
Twelve-year-old Asia Georghiou, who trains at the Fighting Fit Kickboxing Acadamy saw off her rivals in the Girls (under 16) 50kg Points Fighting category at the event in Dublin.
Head instructor Richard Phillips said he was delighted with the results.
He said: "Asia has been training kickboxing for more than five years and has been competing at regional and national level for over four years.
"Asia Prepared for her competition by training in excess of nine hours a week - sometimes running up to two miles a day three times a week.
"Asia was seeded and therefore went into the quarter-finals, where she beat her Hungarian opponent quite comfortably. Hersemi-final bout was a tough encounter against an Austrian opponent.
"The tie was all square after two rounds so they had extra time - which Asia won. Her final was against a polish opponent who could not match Asia's skill and desire," Mr Phillips added.
