A 20-year-old from Northampton who inspired a fund-raising campaign and touched the hearts of thousands passed away on Sunday night, it has been announced.

Zac Forskitt, of Abington Vale, was diagnosed with two forms of cancer, a cancerous tumour on his chest and a rare form of leukaemia.

He inspired the #BacZac campaign (www.baczac.com) which raised thousands of pounds and awareness of his condition.

Over the weekend, the #BacZac Facebook page posted that Zac was not very well and urged people to leave messages of support.

On Sunday night, the page posted the sad news that Zac had passed away with his family around him.

“We are very sorry to announce to you that Zac passed away peacefully tonight.

“The family have been overwhelmed by your messages of support and the love that you have shown them over the last few months.

“Our thoughts and prayers go to the family - Zac inspired so many of us and his bravery and courage will stay with us forever,” the statement said.

Tributes were immediately posted on Twitter and Facebook after the announcement.
