Firefighters have now been able to put out a blaze in a tipper truck after the vehicle came into contact with an overhead power cable in Northampton.

The lorry is situated on the site of a new housing development off Newport Pagnell Road in Wootton.

The driver was not hurt in the incident however the Northamptonshire Roads Policing team, currently in attendance alongside the fire service, tweeted earlier to say the vehicle was ‘still connected’ to the overhead wires.

Police have since confirmed the power has been isolated to allow the fire services to extinguish the blaze.
