Schoolchildren have buried a time capsule on the site of a demolished council building in Northamptonshire.

The demolition of the former South Northants Council building is now complete and Lovell Homes intend to build 87 two, three and four bedroomed homes for sale on the Springfields site - nine of which will be affordable housing.

Children from Towcester C of E Primary School and the Vision Youth Café have produced pictures and letters about what it is like to be a young person in Towcester today. Towcester Writers have also produced poetry and prose inspired by the town.

All of this has been published in a book placed in the time capsule, to be opened in 50 years’ time.

SNC Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, Regeneration and Housing, Councillor Stephen Clarke, said: “This site will create new homes for local families and deliver an important component of the economic regeneration of Towcester.

“This is a significant site in the delivery of the Towcester Masterplan and it will enhance the viability of the market town.”
