Three people have been arrested in Northampton as part of an investigation into a suspected £1.3m VAT and Income Tax fraud.
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) investigators arrested two women, both aged 36, and one man, aged 41, and searched four residential addresses during raids yesterday morning (Wednesday).
Colin Spinks, Assistant Director, Criminal Investigation, HMRC, said: “HMRC take tax fraud seriously and will not hesitate to investigate those suspected of stealing public funds. Anyone with information about suspected tax fraud can call the Tax Evasion Hotline on 0800 788 887”.
All three were interviewed by HMRC officers and have been bailed until mid-February.
