Thief tried to grab woman’s handbag as she walked in Northampton

A man tried to grab a woman’s handbag as she was walking in Northampton.

The incident happened between 8.50pm and 9.10pm on Monday January 18, as the woman walked along Overstone Road, towards Claire Street from Upper Mounts.

As the victim was walking along the road, the offender attempted to grab her handbag and pull it off her shoulder.

She held onto the bag and quickly walked away. Four other men attempted to block her way, but she managed to get away.

The offender is described as white, between 20 to 50 years of age, of average build and about 6ft tall. He was wearing a dark hoodie and dark coloured jogging bottoms.

The other four men were also white, of average build and wearing dark coloured tracksuits.
