Reports of a fire at Northampton General Hospital have been confirmed as a false alarm.

Fire engines were sent to the hospital at around 12.30pm today (September 9).

Eyewitnesses reported an alarm sounding in the oncology ward of the building.

However a spokesman for NGH said the incident is a “false alarm,” believed to have been caused by a fire alarm being triggered in a kitchen area in the older part of the hospital on Billing Road.
