Nationwide Building Society’s Member Service department has held a ‘Summer Party’ to raise money for its partner charity.
Staff chose to support the Talbot Butler ward at Northampton General Hospital in 2015, which cares for cancer patients.
It was selected in memory of Karon Winkler, a colleague who died last year.
Nationwide is looking to raise funds towards the £50,000 cost of building a family room where patients can enjoy a more homely environment.
The ‘Summer Party’ was held at Sedgebrook Hall and featured live entertainment, including award-winning close-up magician Russ Stokes, live band Pure Genius, a disco provided by Big Bopper, and a professional photographer, Alan, from Photocall Events in Kingsthorpe.
Smaller events, such as a cake stall and raffle at Nationwide’s centre in Moulton Park, helped to promote the party which in total raised £2,264.11.
An additional £500 will be donated by Nationwide Building Society’s Citizenship programme.
The event was one of many held for the charity and so far Member Service has raised £6,348 with more events to come, including a Race Night.
A spokesman said: “Nationwide would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has contributed.”
