A man has been taken to hospital after suffering stab wounds to his back following an attack in Northampton.
The incident took place just before 5am on Sunday (February, 5) outside the Balloon Bar in Bridge Street.
A spokeswoman for Northamptonshire police said: "We were called just before 5am on Sunday, February 5 to reports of a man having been stabbed in the back 40 minutes earlier outside the Balloon Bar on Bridge Street, Northampton.
"The man was taken to Northampton General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries."
Father Oliver Coss of All Saints Church was greeted with a pool of blood on the steps of the piazza at 7.45am on Sunday morning.
He told the Chronicle & Echo that there was police tape by the former Fat Cats bar and an officer on duty.
He said: "You get a sense of how big it was. Somebody must have lost about half a pint of blood, when I arrived it was quite fresh."
Father Oliver said he feared it would not be too long before a more significant incident takes place.
A spokeswoman for East Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We sent a fast response vehicle and an ambulance which took the patient to Northampton General Hospital, and the call was received at 4.50am."
