A manhunt has been launched after three men wearing ski masks robbed a taxi firm in Northampton using a spade as a weapon.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a robbery at Phoenix Class Limited in Rothersthorpe Avenue, Northampton, in the early hours of yesterday morning (Thursday, October 15).

Sometime between 12.30am and 12.50am, three men, who were armed with a spade and wearing ski-type masks, entered the premises.

A police spokeswoman said the robbers restrained a member of staff and forced their way into an office, stealing keys and cash.

The men were all dressed in black clothing, with their faces covered and only their eyes visible.

They were described as all having a medium build and one of them was smaller than the other two.

They spoke English but with “no discernible accent,” the spokeswoman added.

Witnesses to the incident, or anyone with information, are asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
