Sinister images may show masked men who carried out acid attacks on Northampton OAPs

Two balaclava-wearing men caught on camera prowling the streets of Northampton are believed to have carried out two acid attacks on pensioners in a single night - including the brutal assault of 80-year-old Albert Glasgow.

This morning Northamptonshire Police has released CCTV images of the men, who they have linked to both an aggravated burglary in Dallington Haven, and the attack on Mr Glasgow, which features on the front page of today's Chronicle & Echo.

Between 10.45pm on Sunday, October 16 and just after midnight the following day, two men wearing "face coverings" climbed into a house through a window in Dallington Haven and assaulted an elderly man who had been asleep in bed . After stealing personal items and cigarettes, they left.

Police say a substance is believed to have been thrown at the victim during the assault.

Officers also say this may be linked to the earlier incident in St James involving Mr Glasgow,

At around 11pm on the Sunday night masked raiders entered his bedroom holding a butcher's knife before squirting a mixture of acid and ammonia into his eyes.

The first offender is described as white, 5ft 10 inches tall and of normal build, wearing a dark coloured jacket with the hood up, dark trousers, a dark face covering and gloves. The other is described as around 5ft tall, aged around 20 years, of skinny build and wearing a jacket with the hood up, a dark face covering and gloves.

Officers are trying to identify the two men pictured in connection with the incidents.
