People in Northamptonshire are being warned the county could see a “significant accumulation of snow” on Monday morning.

In his latest weather forecast, Mike Lewis, station manager at Pitsford Hall, has predicted that temperatures will fall as low as -3C during the weekend and snow could arrive on Monday.

Mr Lewis said: “It will be a very cold and slippery start to the day tomorrow (Friday) with icy stretches fairly widespread across the county requiring some caution especially on minor roads.”

He said there is likely to be a “hard frost” on Saturday night with overnight temperatures falling well below freezing and rain will be arriving on Sunday evening, which will later turn into snow.

Mr Lewis said: “In fact, we could see some significant accumulation of snow for the rush hour on Monday morning.”
