Search for two men who stopped rival fan racially abusing a Cobblers supporter

Two witnesses who challenged a man after he racially abused a fellow supporter at a Northampton Town match are being sought by police.

Police say the men (pictured), who are Northampton fans, witnessed a fellow Cobblers fan being racially abused by a Cambridge United supporter as the fans were leaving Sixfields after the match on Saturday, March 12.

The pair challenged the racist and police have now released photographs in a bid to identify them, as they are witnesses to the offence.

PC Nick Price, the football officer for Northampton Town, said: “These two men were clearly upset and outraged by the racial abuse being directed at a fellow supporter, and stepped in to help him.

“We would urge them to make contact with us, as they are witnesses to this alleged offence.”
