A Northampton seafood restaurant that closed down in the summer is to reopen as a burger outlet.

The Seafood Cafe in St Giles Street closed in August, with a note left on the door blaming an “unforeseen and dramatic downturn in business”.

Now the building is being refurbished and is set to reopen in December as Northamptonshire’s second Mumu restaurant.

Co-owner Gareth Difante said: “We want people to be able to have a meal then stay around and have a few cocktails.

“The music will be turned up a touch louder than most restaurants so we don’t mind if people make a bit more noise if they’re having fun.”

The chain, which has a premises in Kettering, specialises in burgers, as well as pizzas hot dogs and milkshakes.

Mumu also does specials, which have included peanut butter and jam burgers packed with crisps.

Already established with diners, the current Kettering restaurant currently scores 4.5 out of 5 on Tripadvisor.

Opening of the St Giles Street branch is set for December 4 at 6pm.
