Each year thousands of runners take to the iconic Silverstone track to complete the half marathon at the home of Formula 1. The charity is calling out for runners to join its team before registration closes on Thursday January 19, 2017.

Lucy Burnip, community and events fundraiser at the Stroke Association, said: “Taking part in the half marathon is a fun and inspiring experience, but there’s a serious purpose behind it; stroke is one of the largest causes of disability. At the Stroke Association, we want to be there for everyone affected by stroke, so please do join our team and help us raise the funds that could make this a reality.

“The adidas Silverstone Half Marathon is a great event for runners of all abilities and there’s always a brilliant atmosphere. This will be the seventh year we’ve had a Stroke Association team running.

"To join us in one of our charity places for free, all we ask is that you raise £200 and in return, we'll be with you every step of the way. You'll get an expert training plan, weekly emails with training and fundraising tips, a Stroke Association t-shirt and lots of help and support.”

There are around 9,700 strokes in the East Midlands every year and more than 93,000 people in the East Midlands living with the effects of stroke.

To apply for a charity place contact the Stroke Association’s Supporter Care Team on 0300 330 0740 or email [email protected]. Entries close on Thursday January 19, 2017.
