Rothwell man denies viewing child abuse images

A Rothwell man has pleaded not guilty to six charges of viewing indecent images of children.

Paul Welch, 34, denied the charges at a hearing at Wellingborough Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Wednesday).

He faces two charges of making an indecent photograph of children under Category A, two charges of making a Category B image, and two charges of making a Category C image - Category A being the worst.

The charge of making an indecent image can include clicking on a web page that shows unambiguously an indecent image will be displayed as a result of that click, or causing a picture or movie to be saved on the disk of the computer.

Welch will now face a trial at Northampton Crown Court on August 3.

He was granted bail by chairman of the bench Sandra Bullock, on the condition that he is not to be in the company of any child under 18 without supervision.
