The man leading the project to build a new headquarters for Northamptonshire County Council will be conquering his fear of heights by climbing a 50-metre crane.

Richard Beeby, programme director for Project Angel in Northampton, will then walk out along the 20-metre jib – all to raise money for the Christmas present appeal for Looked After Children and children in need in the county.

Weather permitting, the climb will take place on Wednesday, October 7.

Mr Beeby said: “I’m terrified of heights! But this is a great cause and so I’m willing to try and conquer my fear to raise some money.

“This is a unique opportunity to get a bird’s eye view of what will be the new council HQ. I’m just hoping it’s not going to be too windy.”
