It’s not every day that David Cameron visits your school, but that is what happened at Corby Technical School this morning (Wednesday).

The Prime Minister paid a visit to the school in Cottingham Road, Corby, on the day that he announced the Government’s plans to open 500 new free schools over the next five years.

Two free schools are to open in Corby and Northampton as part of the first wave of free schools to be announced this Parliament, with Corby Free Special School addressing the need for more special places in Corby and Catch22 Northamptonshire Academy in Northampton providing a new alternative provision school for four to 16-year-olds.

During his visit, Mr Cameron spoke of how the school was a great example of a free school and also took several questions from pupils.

Topics covered during the question and answer session included what was the General Election like, what is the hardest decision he’s ever had to make, when did he realise he wanted a life in politics, what is it like being Prime Minister and how does he deal with criticism.
