The site of a derelict pub on a Northampton estate could soon be cleared to make way for new homes.
The Morris Man in Kings Heath closed down a number of years ago and the site has since been targeted by vandals and arsonists.
Plans have now been submitted to Northampton Borough Council to clear the half-acre site at the junction of Park Crescent West and South Oval so 15 new homes can be built on the land.
Documents submitted to the council show the scheme would include 11 houses and four flats.
The councillor for the area, Roger Conroy (Lib Dem, Spencer) has welcomed the plans.
He said: “The site needs developing and it would be good to get new housing built on there rather than see it remain the dumping ground that it is at the moment.”
The 15 new homes would have a total of 19 parking spaces.
New trees and shrubs would also be planted around the site as part of the development.
Plans for the redevelopment of the Morris Man pub site in Kings Heath were submitted to Northampton Borough Council last week.
The authority is expected to make a decision on whether or not the development should be given the go-ahead by the end of April this year.
The decision is likely to be taken by experts from the council’s planning department, rather than elected councillors.
