Plans for new Northampton sand and gravel quarry on show

Residents are being asked their views on plans by Anglian Water to allow minerals to be extracted on its land near Great Billing Water Recycling Centre.

The site is allocated for mineral extraction in the Northamptonshire Minerals and Waste Local Plan 2014, drawn up by the county council.

The Public Exhibition will allow local residents and stakeholders to learn more about the plans, share their views, and ask their questions to the project team.

Great Billing Water Recycling Centre is one of Anglian Water's largest strategic sites.

The emerging plans propose:

• Extraction of sand and gravel with subsequent restoration of the site to agriculture and wetland habitats.

• Access to the site will be taken from the A45 junction with Crow Lane and through the existing treatment works.

A public exhibition of the proposals will take place at Cogenhoe and Whiston Village Hall, York Avenue, Cogenhoe between 4pm and 8pm on Tuesday, December 13.

Feedback forms will be available on the day, either to complete at the venue or to take away and submit by 20 December 2016.
