A man has died after a microlight he was flying crashed in a Northamptonshire field.

Police were called out to a field near Pitsford Reservoir just before 3pm on Saturday after reports a microlight had crashed.

The air ambulance was called, but sadly the pilot, a 70-year-old man from Cambridgeshire, died at the scene. The man was flying the microlight alone and nobody else was injured in the crash.

The pilot is belived to have travelled from Sywell Aerodrome.

The incident is currently being investigated by the Air Accident Investigation Bureau.
