Shoppers came out in force on Thursday night to watch the cast of Northampton’s pantomimes switch on the Christmas lights.
Thousands of people turned out to watch EastEnders star John Patridge, fellow stars from Royal & Derngate, along with the cast of the Deco’s pantomime for an evening of festive entertainment.
The Guildhall was illuminated with festive lights and there is cross-street lighting twinkling along Bridge Street, Gold Street, the Drapery, St Giles Street and Derngate.
There are five 40ft Christmas trees in Abington Square, St Giles Square, Market Square, North Gate bus station and outside All Saints.
The traditional German market is now open and there will be free parking every Thursday until Christmas in all borough council car parks.
The Frost Fair will also be taking over the Market Square again on Sunday December 6.
