The sudden death of a man found in a car in Rockingham near Corby will not be treated as suspicious Northamptonshire Police have confirmed.

Villagers in Rockingham woke on Saturday (April 24) to find a police car blocking the Rockingham to Cottingham road with pedestrians, cyclists and all vehicles stopped from using the route.

Fire crews attended the scene and a blue forensics tent was erected by the side of the B670 for forensics teams' investigation work.

A spokesman for Northants Police said: "I can confirm Northamptonshire Police were called by Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service at about 5.35am on Saturday, April 24, and asked to attend the scene of a car fire in Cottingham Road, Rockingham.

"The body of a man in his 50s was discovered inside the car and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The death is not being treated as suspicious, and a report is being prepared for the coroner’s office."
