Pedal for a medal as you Cycle4Cynthia

Forget Olympic gold, the medal that Northamptonshire's cyclists will be battling for later this year is the one that's hung round their necks at the end of the fundraising bike ride, Cycle4Cynthia, staged annually in aid of Cynthia Spencer Hospice.

This year’s gong will be extra special to mark the Hospice’s 40th birthday, thanks to the generous sponsorship of Northampton-based lettings and sales agent Chelton Brown.

Every cyclist who completes either the 5, 25 or 50 mile routes will be rewarded with one of the anniversary medals, not just those coming 1st, 2nd or 3rd.

Recipients of previous years’ honours include Saints star and England rugby captain Dylan Hartley and Radio 2 DJ Jo Whiley, both of whom have leapt into their saddles to help raise funds for this most deserving of causes.

Chelton Brown’s managing director, Sali Brown, said: “The Hospice is such a wonderful charity, doing vital and valuable work within the community so, having been a supporter of the event for a number of years, we’re thrilled to be able to play our part again in this memorable way.”

“By wonderful coincidence, we marked our own four decades in business last year so this gives us a perfect excuse to continue our celebrations for a little bit longer and I’d urge everyone to join us for the party, which is what the ride is every year.”

John Helm, Cynthia Spencer Hospice’s fundraising manager said: “The event simply wouldn’t be the annual success it is without so many of the county’s businesses stepping forward.

“Cycle4Cynthia has become the most successful event in the Hospice calendar so our thanks go out to all the Chelton Brown team for their continuing efforts.”

He added: “There are many ways businesses can support the event so we look forward to hearing from other firms who might also want to help us.”

Cycle4Cynthia takes place on Sunday September 25 at the new venue of Holdenby House.
