An admission tutor from Oxford University will be attending an open evening at Kingsthorpe College in Northampton tonight (Tuesday).

The school, in Boughton Green Road, has invited Dr Richard Earl to speak to parents and tutors at their post 16 information evening, starting at 6pm.

The open evening starts with a welcome from the principal, Debbie Morrison before Dr Earl will present to parents and students who will then have an opportunity to talk to all the different subject areas on offer.

A spokesman for the school said: “Half of the students that go to Oxbridge come from private schools but we are confident that our students can compete with them.

“Kingsthorpe College’s ambitious plans aim to see us double the percentage of Post 16 students that receive offers from Russell Group Universities, which stood at an impressive 26 per cent last year”.
