The company which owns the former St Crispin’s Hospital site that was badly damaged by a major fire last year says it is working on a planning application for a large housing development.

A spokeswoman for WN Developments, which took over the site in 2009, said the firm was currently working with Northampton Borough Council on a proposal which it is hoped would be formally submitted before the end of the year.

The spokeswoman said: “We are currently working with the council on a planning application for the site.

“It will be mainly housing and apartments. We are hoping to submit a planning application in the next few months.”

St Crispin’s Hospital was a former large psychiatric hospital on the outskirts of Duston, established in 1876. It closed in 1995.
