Never underestimate the milk of human kindness.

I was in the Marks and Spencers outlet at the Harborough Road BP garage in Kingsthorpe last week when something amazing happened to me.

I’d spent about £40 on groceries but when I got to the pay-out counter, I couldn’t find my purse.

I was busy apologising to the cashier when a really kind man in the next queue stepped forward and said he would pay my bill.

It was so unexpected.

I blushed and said it was very kind, but I couldn’t accept his kind gesture.

But he insisted and paid for me. Then he walked out.

The counter staff were equally surprised and said in all the years they’d worked there they’d never seen anything like it.

When I got home, there was my purse on my bed!

My daughter said: “Mum you have to spread the karma, do something really nice for someone else.”

So I did. I bought a beautiful bouquet of white roses and blue flowers for a dear friend who is wheelchair bound.

She has multiple sclerosis and is always cheerful and never complains. I got so much joy out of giving, and she was genuinely pleased.

So if that lovely gentleman at the BP garage is reading this, I would just like to say a big “thank you”.

I have no idea who you are, but you made my day.
