A trial in the case of a Northamptonshire Police officer accused of murdering his wife will be held at Birmingham Crown Court in January next year.

Detective Constable Adrian ‘Otis’ Goldsmith, aged 49, appeared at Northampton Crown Court via video link from HM Prison Peterborough yesterday (Tuesday).

Goldsmith has been in custody since March 26, the day he was charged with the murder of his wife Jill, aged 48, at their home address in Wootton Hall.

The court heard that Goldsmith’s custody time limit was due to expire on September 25 but this has now been extended until January.
