A Northamptonshire man who was caught driving while almost three times the alcohol limit at 9.45am has been given a suspended prison sentence.
Benjamin Eaton, aged 24, of Grafton Road, Brigstock, was stopped by police officers in Gretton Brooke Road, Corby, on September 6 after he was seen to take a roundabout too quickly.
Officers smelt alcohol on his breath and a test of his urine at the police station revealed a level of 301 millogrammes of alcohol per 100 millitres. The legal limit is 107.
Eaton, who appeared at Northampton Crown Court for sentencing, told officers he had driven because he had wanted to get a phone back from his ex-partner.
Recorder Geoffrey Kelly, sentencing, said it was a “dangerous decision to drive which posed a risk to other road users.”
Eaton was sentenced to four weeks in prison, suspended for a year.
