Northamptonshire school celebrates outstanding Ofsted inspection

A Desborough primary school is celebrating after receiving an outstanding grade from education standards inspectors Ofsted.

Havelock Infants School was judged ‘outstanding’ in all five of the areas Ofsted focuses on - the best report possible.

It is currently the only school in Northamptonshire and one of just 99 schools in the country to be awarded outstanding across all five areas since the new inspection regime was introduced in September 2015.

Headteacher Ann Davey said: “We are delighted with this outcome.

“Our last inspection judged us to be a ‘good’ school but we knew we had achieved further improvement.

“To be recognised as an ‘outstanding’ school is a tribute to the hard work and commitment of all our staff, pupils and parents who go the extra mile to ensure everyone achieves their best at Havelock Infants School.”

The school was praised by Ofsted for its outstanding leadership and pupils’ behaviour and its strong partnership with parents.

Pupils at the school attained grades higher than the national average in reading, writing and mathematics.

Chairman of governors Paul Burnett said: “The governors are delighted that the work of Ann Davey and her staff has been recognised as ‘outstanding’.

“Everyone at Havelock Infants School, governors included, aspires to achieve the best for our children.

“The progress and attainment of our pupils has improved year on year and this Ofsted judgement recognises that success.

Havelock Infants School is part of the Montsaye Community Learning Partnership and is the first of the family of schools to secure an outstanding inspection.
