A 61-year-old man who admitted downloading 23 indecent images of girls as young as five years old has been given a six month jail sentence.
Clifford Townsend, of Potterspury, appeared at Northampton Crown Court after police analysed his computer and found indecent images of young girls.
The court heard that two of the images were classified in the most serious category A, there were 11 category B images and 10 category C images.
Police uncovered the images after carrying out a search of his home in November 2012.
Recorder Timothy Spencer QC said Townsend had contributed to the “filthy trade” in indecent images of children.
He said: “Some of these girls were maybe as young as five years old others maybe slightly older.
“These children have been exploited and they have suffered.”
