A Rothwell man has been named as the victim of a fatal car fire on the M11 in Cambridgeshire earlier this week.

The driver, believed to be 43-year-old Foyzul Islam of Marlow Close, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The fire was reported near junction 12 southbound, just after Barton, at about 8.10am on Wednesday, January 13.

The carriageway was closed from junction 14 for a number of hours.

Formal identification is yet to take place, however investigators are satisfied the driver was Mr Islam and his family have been made aware.

Investigations continue into the cause of the incident.

No other people or vehicles were involved.

Witnesses told how his Mercedes car dramatically exploded as it was driven in the fast lane of the southbound carriageway.
