A police hunt has been sparked after a Northamptonshire criminal with a scar on the left side of his head escaped from an open prison yesterday.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for help in tracing Scott Lawson, 28, from Wellingborough, after he left HMP Springhill, in Grendon Underwood, Aylesbury, overnight.

Lawson is white, 6ft, clean shaven, with short black hair and a scar on the left side of his head.

It is not known what he was wearing at the time he absconded, though a Thames Valley Police spokesman said he has links to East Northamptonshire.

Investigating officer, Sgt Jim Forrest, from Aylesbury Local CID, said: “Officers are currently working to locate Lawson who has absconded from HMP Springhill.

“I would advise members of the public not to approach him if they see him but to instead call 101 as soon as possible.

“Please contact us if you have any information as to Lawson’s whereabouts or see anyone matching his description.”

If you have any information about Lawson’s whereabouts call the Thames Valley Police on 101 quoting unique reference number 464 9/10.
