She was born with a rare brain tumour called a hypothalamic hamartoma, which causes her to have daily seizures.

But as the condition only affects one in every 200,000 people, treatment is not available in the UK. Instead Ms Lyon, who needs a carer to complete everyday tasks, is having to raise more than £100,000 to have keyhole surgery to ablate the tumour in Arizona, USA.

She organised a 5k Family Fun Run last month on Epilepsy Awareness Day to help reach her fundraising target.

She said: “It was a huge success thanks to all those kind enough to sponsor me or my children, i.e. Friends, Family and even friends of friends. Plus a big thank you goes out to all those who came to support us on the day. The children had a great time and so did we.”

She raised £797.50 towards the fund

On Saturday, May 14 she plans to hold a stall at Duston Eldean Primary School to help raise money plus awareness of a Hypothalamic Hamartoma from noon to 3pm.
