A Northampton woman has appeared in court charged with causing death by careless driving in relation to an incident in which a cyclist died.

Angela Willshire, aged 32, of Thatchwell Court, Standens Barn, appeared at Northampton Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

The court heard Anthony Ashcroft, aged 76, was cycling along the A510 between Wellingborough and Finedon at 11pm on Friday, March 13 when he was involved in a collision with a green Citroen Saxo close to Sidegate Lane.

He died in hospital the following day as a result of his injuries.

Vicki walker, prosecuting, said Mr Ashcroft was wearing a high-visibility jacket and had lights on his bike.

Willshire, the driver of the Citroen Saxo, did not indicate a plea to the charge of causing death by careless driving.

Magistrates declined jurisdiction in the case. Willshere will appear at Northampton Crown Court later this month.
