A soprano vocalist from Northampton is set to unite rugby-goers in song for the Rugby League Four Nations opener this weekend.

Emily Haig, who lives in the town centre, is due to perform at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday, November 5 for the tournament, with both games being broadcast live on BBC and Radio 5 Live.

Miss Haig will lead two national anthems at 5.30pm on behalf of Scotland for their game with England and then again at 8pm where she will perform the Australian anthem for their game against New Zealand.

“I am looking forward to seeing the crowd and hearing them join in with the anthem. I am sure that they will be in good voice,” Miss Haig, 28, said.

The vocalist, who isn’t fazed by an audience of 30,000 people, has performed four times this year at Wembley Stadium on behalf of the Football League and Football Association and has also sang on the grid for both the GT and Prototype Cup.
