Northampton School for Girls tops national average with English and maths pass rate

The Spinney Hill road school also saw some standout performances too.

Nineteen students gained a minimum of eight GCSEs at grades A or A* and four got more than eight A*s.

Erin McGauran-Porter was awarded an exceptional 11 A*s and one A.

In a year when three of the school’s sixth formers got a place at Oxford and one a place at Harvard, a school spokesperson said staff there were “thrilled” at this year’s exam results.

As for high performing subjects, 89 per cent got a grade C or above in art, with 85 per cent achieving the same feat in graphics.

A spokesperson for the school said: “In terms of individual success, our top five girls for progress were Rashmita Giri, Jessica Delgado, Sneha Abraham, Yasmin Harrison and Anna Popielska; all of whom performed above and beyond expectations.

“These girls, and so many others, are shining examples of how hard work, determination and a focus on developing good learning habits pays off.  None of this would be possible, of course, without the support of outstanding teachers and support staff.”

The school has passed on particular congratulations to Abbie Dadds, who achieved a C grade in Art; and to Vita Owens and Drew Parker, both of whom achieved six A* to C grades even though they only joined Northampton School for Girls in January this year.
