A promotional video for an event expected to attract more than 2,000 ‘Santas’ to Becket’s Park in Northampton has been released by the organisers.
The Northampton Santa Run and Walk, organised by Swift Run Events, hopes to raise more than £40,000 for six charities - Cynthia Spencer Hospice, St John Ambulance, The Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance, Rotary Club of Northampton, The British Red Cross and Northamptonshire Health Charitable Fund.
Race Director Chris Dolan said: “As it is 2015, hopefully, all participants can walk, jog, run to raise £20.15 that will equate to over £40,000 for the six charities.”
Participants of any age or experience are invited to run or walk in the event. There are even some four-legged friends taking part, including Archie – a fun-loving King Charles cross.
Mr Dolan added: “The event is already proving very popular and will consist of two laps of a 1.5km route around the picturesque Becket’s Park.
“A surprise guest will open the event this year, and entries will be taken by post or online up until Thursday December 10 or on the day for anybody wishing to take part. The £18 adult and £8 child entry fee will provide all entrants with a Santa suit, and an exclusive finisher’s medal, with all sponsorship going to the local branches of the charities,” he added.
