The 2016 winner of the Northampton Chronicle & Echo’s Chip Shop of the Year competition says the secret of his success is “freshly cooking all the food to order”.
Mr Chips IV, of Broadmead Avenue, has been presented with his winner’s trophy after attaining the most votes from the general public.
The Chron recently ran a competition to search for Northampton’s best chippy and had a total of 41 nominees.
Shop owners, husband, and wife, Sedat and Gulsum Gurbuz, say the secret to their award-winning grub is that everything is “freshly cooked to order.”
Sedat said: “We have won the award for the best chippy in Luton for the past three years.
“Our customers have to wait around five minutes for their food to be cooked because everything is freshly cooked to order. I change the oil which the food is cooked in at least twice a week and we only buy produce of high quality.
“We owe thanks to all of our customers.”
Loyal customer, Kerry Gibson of Greenfield Avenue said: “It’s really nice here, you get a lot for your money and I know my doner kebab and chips is always cooked from fresh.”
