A road has been closed near a Northampton primary school this afternoon after Northants Fire & Rescue were called to a road traffic collision following an oil spill.

The crew attended Royal Terrace in Barrack Road at about 2.10pm to reports of an oil spill from a car near Castle Primary School.

First aid was given to a member of the public who was feeling unwell, Northants Fire Tweeted.

The affected part of the road has been closed over fears that it is unsafe for motorists.
