A primary school in Northampton is celebrating winning the Northampton sports school of the year award for the third year in a row.
Lings Primary School, which won the county sports school of the year award, was commended by judges for using PE to “improve all areas of school life, pupil behaviour and levels of attainment.”
Headteacher Leigh Wolmarans said pupils were given the chance to play a wide range of sports and it had a hugely positive impact on academic results.
He said: “For a school with a one form entry it is just staggering that 45 per cent of the pupils now represent the county in sport.
“To win town sports school three years in a row just blows me away.”
Lings has also become the first ever Create Development Hub School and all teachers are trained how to teach PE.
The school has three ballroom dance clubs, a tennis club, a golf club, a break dance club and three gymnastics clubs.
