Northampton paramedic admits getting medication by fraud

Andrew Mills appeared in Northampton Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with two counts of giving false information to obtain a prescription for medication - one on September 21, 2014 and the other on October 11, 2015.

Mills, aged 29, of Tewkesbury Close, Delapre, admitted the charge dated last year, about which no further details were given, and will be sentenced at a later date.

Blanche Lentz, EMAS Northamptonshire general manager, confirmed yesterday that Mills was no longer working for them.

She said: “The paramedic was suspended from duty in November 2015 and no longer works for the trust.”

Mills pleaded not guilty to the second charge, which the court heard involved allegations he obtained painkillers for his partner, who had been in a car accident.

Mills specifically denies using a false name.

The case was adjourned until May 26.
