A musician who left his guitar in the back of a taxi has had the instrument returned to him.

Carl Hayter, from the band Whiteroom, lost the guitar on Saturday night after leaving it in the boot of a taxi after a gig in Northampton.

Unable to trace the taxi that took him home, Mr Hayter turned to the Chronicle & Echo for help.

Thousands of people read the story online about the missing guitar and shared it on social media.

Last night the taxi driver who dropped Mr Hayter home returned the guitar to him.

Mr Hayter said: “A miracle has happened and I’ve got my guitar back.

“The taxi driver knocked on my door around 8.30pm last night and gave it me.”

When the taxi driver, who wants to remain anonymous, realised he had the guitar in his boot he tried to give it back to Mr Hayter on Sunday but he was out.

He visited his home address again last night where Mr Hayter was reunited with his beloved guitar.

“I’m very lucky and so grateful to the taxi driver. I felt like I’d won the lottery.”
