A 22-year-old man from Northampton who has admitted raping a woman who he contacted via social media has been given a four-year jail sentence.

Ricky Jackson, of Rothersthorpe Road, forced himself on her despite the fact she said she did not want to have sex.

Northampton Crown Court heard Jackson began kissing her and then said he “wanted to take it further”.

Paul Prior, prosecuting, said Jackson then and began taking off her clothes despite the fact she said “stop now please”.

After he raped the woman, Jackson apologised and told her “not to go to the police”.

However, the woman recorded part of the conversation on her mobile phone and then called 999.

The court heard that Jackson had previously been given a two-year custodial sentence after he was convicted of a attempted rape five years ago.

David Everett, in mitigation, said his client had learning difficulties and was seeking professional help for his sexual addiction.

After deciding that he wasn’t a ‘danger’ to the public, Recorder David Mason sentenced Jackson to four years in jail and said he is likely to serve half that period before being released on licence.
